Caroline and Dave say: Northland is not just a great region for enjoying life, it’s the perfect setting for a crime novel or TV series. We are lucky to have not one but four brilliant Northland writers at this session.

Tourists love our beaches and summers but what makes Northland such a a great setting for crime writing? Local novelist Lauren Roche (Mila and the Bone Man ) leads a ‘Northland Noir’ panel with Kerikeri author Catherine Lea (The Water’s Dead, Better Left Dead), Whangarei author Michael Botur (Moneyland, Bloodalcohol, Crimechurch) and Kawakawa-based author Angus Gillies (Far North upon which the TV series was based).

These authors will talk about why they enjoy writing crime fiction how the area in which they live influences their writing.
