Caroline and Dave say: Most people know Jude from television but she is also passionately interested in New Zealand’s war history. This fascinating book has an equally fascinating story behind it and we can’t wait to hear it.

TV personality and war historian Jude Dobson discusses the amazing story of Pippa Latour, a French spy who parachuted into Nazi-occupied France in 1944 and only told her story to Jude at age 102.

Trained by the British, Pippa was lauded for her fluency with languages and her coding ability – attributes she put to remarkable use when she posed as a teenage soap seller, often selling her wares to the German soldiers and sending back information via code to the UK.

Pippa knew she could be instantly shot if her cover was blown – she concealed her codes in pieces of silk that she threaded through a shoelace and wore as a hair tie.

For decades, Pippa told no one – not even her family – of her incredible feats during WWII. Now, for the first time, her story can be told in full.

Jude will be interviewed by Upsurge publicist and book lover Gill Hughes.

The most remarkable story of a most courageous woman – Hon Judith Collins, Minister of Defence.
