Mihi whakatau
Meet at 9.45am on Sunday 8 September at the waka by the entrance to Te Ahurea for a 10.00am start. Free.
Nau mai, haere mai! Come along to the beautiful, historic Kororipo Basin to celebrate the opening of the Upsurge Bay of Islands Arts Festival. The mihi whakatau will be hosted by the Ngāti Rēhia hāpu, kaitiaki (guardians) of the area.
The mihi whakatau will include performances from Ngāti Rēhia artists and there will also be workshops and demonstrations during the morning.
Ngāti Rēhia will also be welcoming artists and other visitors to our region at 8.30am on each morning of the festival at the same place. These short mihi are open to the public, so you are most welcome to attend – it’s a fantastic way to start the day at the beautiful Kororipo Basin.
